Today Arizona governor Jan Brewner has banned federal funding to Planned Parenthood. This disturbs me and should disturb you as well for reasons that stretch far beyond the complexities of the pro-life/pro-choice argument. Abortion is just a minuscule part of what Planned Parenthood does for the communities fortunate enough to have access to a location. The preventative cancer and prenatal care and that the organization offers is imperative to the lives of so many women and the kids that they have chosen to give birth to…especially poor women that often rely solely upon Planned Parenthood for this.

Particularly disturbing is the fact the Brewner is a woman. I will never understand how any woman could consider hurting fellow women in such a way that she has. She along with any other woman even thinking about voting Republican this election should be tarred and feathered publicly by other women for treason to their gender. The common argument that it is unfair that men in politics are making decisions that involve women directly is fair and relevant as well as almost always true, but it is important today to look beyond both gender and the right to choose in this discussion. If you have any love for women be it a sister, mother, girlfriend, wife, or anyone else with a vagina it is important to look into this pressing issue and realize that legislation like this will cost womens lives.
